ProPDFMaker is a free, browser-based PDF conversion platform. It lets you convert documents between PDF and other formats — including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and JPG — entirely inside your browser without installing any software, creating an account, or uploading your files to a server.
Yes — ProPDFMaker is completely free. There are no hidden charges, no premium tiers, no subscription fees, and no credit card required. All tools listed on the site are available to every user at no cost, with no watermarks added to any output file.
No. ProPDFMaker requires no account, no registration, and no email address. Open the tool you need, upload your file, convert it, and download the result — no login at any step. Your file is never linked to any user profile or stored session.
ProPDFMaker processes files using client-side technology — the conversion runs directly inside your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you choose a file, it is loaded into your browser's memory, converted locally, and then downloaded back to your device. At no point does the file travel over the internet to any external server.
ProPDFMaker currently offers the following free conversion tools:
Most conversions complete in 2–10 seconds depending on the file size and your device's processing speed. Because conversion happens locally in your browser rather than on a remote server, the speed depends on your device's CPU and available memory — not your internet connection speed.
No. ProPDFMaker never adds any watermarks, stamps, branding, or overlays to your output file. The converted document is a clean, watermark-free version of your original — exactly as expected. This applies to all tools, all file formats, and all users equally with no exceptions.
No — never. ProPDFMaker performs all processing locally inside your browser using client-side technology. Your file is loaded into your browser's memory, converted on your own device, and downloaded directly to you. No data travels over the internet to any ProPDFMaker server or third-party server at any point.
Yes. Because ProPDFMaker never uploads files to any server, it is safe for converting sensitive documents including legal contracts, financial records, medical files, HR documents, personal identification, and anything marked confidential or private. Your file exists only on your device throughout the entire process.
No. ProPDFMaker does not store, cache, log, or retain your files in any way. Once you close the browser tab or navigate away, all temporary data associated with your conversion is cleared from your browser's memory automatically. There is no storage on ProPDFMaker's end because no upload ever occurs.
ProPDFMaker does not collect the content of your files, your document names, or any personally identifiable information from your documents. Like most websites, standard anonymous analytics data (page views, general browser type) may be collected to improve the service, but this is never linked to your files or document content.
The key difference is privacy. Tools like iLovePDF, Smallpdf, PDF24 online, and Adobe Acrobat online all upload your file to their servers for processing — your document travels over the internet and is temporarily stored on their infrastructure. ProPDFMaker processes everything locally in your browser, meaning your file never leaves your device. This makes ProPDFMaker the safest option for sensitive or confidential documents.
Go to the Word to PDF Converter, click Choose File and select your DOC or DOCX file. The conversion begins automatically in your browser. Once complete, click Download PDF to save the file. Your Word formatting — fonts, tables, images, and layout — is preserved in the output PDF.
Go to the PDF to Word Converter, upload your PDF file, and the tool will convert it into an editable DOC or DOCX document. This is ideal for editing PDF content in Microsoft Word or Google Docs after conversion. The output is compatible with all versions of Word and Microsoft 365.
Use the Excel to PDF Converter — upload your XLS or XLSX file and it will be converted to a clean, printable PDF. Tables, cell formatting, and data are preserved. This is ideal for sharing spreadsheets as read-only documents without others being able to edit the data.
Go to the PDF to Excel Converter, upload your PDF, and the tool will extract tables and data into an editable XLS or XLSX spreadsheet. This is particularly useful for working with PDF invoices, reports, financial statements, or any document that contains tabular data you need to manipulate in Excel.
Use the PDF to PowerPoint Converter — upload your PDF and it will be converted into an editable PPT or PPTX presentation. Each PDF page becomes an editable PowerPoint slide, allowing you to modify text, images, and layout in Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides.
Currently, ProPDFMaker processes one file at a time per conversion. For batch processing of multiple files, you can convert them one by one using the same tool in sequence. Each conversion takes only seconds, so processing several files does not take long. Batch conversion is on the roadmap for future updates.
ProPDFMaker currently supports standard PDFs. If your PDF is password-protected, you will need to remove the password protection first before converting. You can do this using a free tool like iLovePDF's Unlock PDF tool, then use ProPDFMaker to convert the unlocked version.
Yes. ProPDFMaker's Word to PDF converter preserves fonts, tables, images, headers, footers, bullet points, numbered lists, page margins, and general document layout. Complex documents with custom styles may occasionally have minor variations — if precision is critical for print, always review the output PDF before final use.
ProPDFMaker currently supports the following input and output formats:
Support for additional formats including JPG, PNG, and HEIC is planned for future updates.
Because processing happens in your browser rather than on a server, the practical file size limit depends on your device's available memory (RAM) rather than a fixed server-side cap. Files up to 50MB convert without issues on most modern devices. Very large files (100MB+) may be slower or require a device with more available RAM. There is no hard file size limit imposed by ProPDFMaker itself.
ProPDFMaker works best with digitally created PDFs — documents that contain selectable text layers. Scanned PDFs (images of pages) require OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract the text before conversion. For scanned PDFs, use a free OCR tool such as iLovePDF's OCR PDF to Word or PDF24's OCR tool first, then use ProPDFMaker for further conversion.
ProPDFMaker currently supports Microsoft Office formats (DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX) and PDF. Apple Pages (.pages) and LibreOffice (.odt, .ods, .odp) files are not currently supported as direct inputs. To convert these, first export them to DOCX or XLSX from their respective applications, then use ProPDFMaker to convert to PDF.
No. ProPDFMaker has no daily conversion limits, no hourly caps, and no usage quotas. You can convert as many files as you need, whenever you need, completely free and without restriction. There is no premium plan required to unlock higher limits.
ProPDFMaker works on all modern devices with a web browser — including Windows PCs, Mac computers, iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, and Chromebooks. No app download or software installation is required on any platform. As long as your browser is up to date, ProPDFMaker will work.
ProPDFMaker is fully supported on all modern browsers:
For the best performance, use the latest version of your browser. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Yes. ProPDFMaker works in Safari and Chrome on all iPhones and iPads running iOS 14 or later. No app download is needed. Open the tool in your mobile browser, tap Choose File, select your document from the Files app, and download the converted file directly to your device.
Yes. ProPDFMaker works on all Android devices running Android 8.0 or later in Chrome or any modern mobile browser. Select your file from your device's Downloads folder or Google Drive, convert it in the browser, and save the output directly to your phone or tablet storage.
An internet connection is needed to initially load the ProPDFMaker web page and its conversion libraries in your browser. However, once the page is fully loaded, the actual file conversion process itself runs locally in your browser without sending data over the internet. On a slow connection, the initial page load may take a few extra seconds, but conversion speed is unaffected.
ProPDFMaker is currently a web-only tool — there is no dedicated iOS or Android app. However, the website is fully mobile-optimised and works smoothly in Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. You can also add ProPDFMaker to your home screen from your mobile browser for quick access, which gives an app-like experience without any download.
In most cases, yes — fonts, tables, images, margins, and general layout are preserved faithfully. Complex documents using uncommon fonts, advanced Word styles, or heavy graphic design may have minor differences. For best results, use common fonts (Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman) and standard Word formatting. Always review the output before sharing or printing.
No. ProPDFMaker does not compress or degrade images or text during the conversion process. The output maintains the same resolution and quality as your source document. If your original Word file has high-resolution images, they will be preserved at the same quality in the converted PDF output.
PDF to Word conversion involves translating a fixed-layout format (PDF) into an editable flowing format (DOCX). Elements like custom fonts not installed on your system, complex multi-column layouts, or embedded form fields may not convert with perfect precision. For documents requiring exact layout preservation, keep the original PDF alongside the converted Word file.
If a conversion fails or produces an unexpected result, try the following steps:
Yes. Files converted using ProPDFMaker are your own documents — the conversion process does not affect your ownership or rights over the content. You are free to use, share, print, or publish the converted files for any personal or commercial purpose. ProPDFMaker makes no claim over your files or their content.
