✅ .PDF · Local Browser EditingUse a focused browser workspace for annotations, visual corrections and page organisation without installing desktop software or creating an account.
Make visual changes and organise pages without a complicated desktop editing interface.
PDF is a final-layout document format, so “editing a PDF” can mean several different things. This tool focuses on useful overlay changes and page-level organisation.
An online PDF editor is most useful when you need to add information, mark a document for review, place a signature image, highlight a section, correct orientation or reorganise pages. These tasks can be completed without rebuilding the original document in the software that created it.
The editor keeps the visual PDF page as the base and adds new content over it. A text note placed above a typo can visually correct the delivered copy; a highlight can draw attention to a clause; a rectangle can identify a required field; and a freehand line can underline a deadline. During export, those additions are written into a new PDF document.
Existing text inside a PDF may be stored as positioned glyphs, font subsets, vector outlines, scanned pixels or separate drawing commands. It is not always a normal editable paragraph. Therefore, this page does not claim that every original sentence can be selected and rewritten like text in Microsoft Word or Google Docs. For a small visible correction, cover or annotate the area and add replacement text. For extensive rewriting, return to the original DOCX, design file or source application when available.
Page-level changes are often just as important as annotations. A scanned packet may contain a sideways page, duplicated receipt or incorrect ordering. The page controls let you rotate an individual page, move it earlier or later, or remove it from the final output. The exported PDF is rebuilt in the selected sequence.
Use this comparison to choose the right workflow for the change you need to make.
| Task | This Browser Editor | Result | Best Practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Add a comment, date or label | Supported | New text drawn on the page | Use a readable size and contrasting colour |
| Highlight or box a section | Supported | Transparent highlight or rectangle overlay | Avoid covering essential text |
| Add a logo or signature image | Supported | PNG/JPG image embedded in the output PDF | Use an image you are authorised to apply |
| Rotate, delete or reorder pages | Supported | Rebuilt output page sequence | Review every page before downloading |
| Rewrite all existing paragraphs | Not a word processor | Use overlay corrections rather than source reconstruction | Edit the original source file for major revisions |
| Perform OCR on a scanned page | Not included | Scanned text remains part of the page image | Use a dedicated OCR workflow first |
| Remove passwords or restrictions | Not supported | Protected files may fail to load | Use an authorised unlocked copy |
Choose the right tool for notes, corrections, approvals, reviews and page preparation.
Select Add Text, enter the wording in the toolbar, choose a font size and colour, then click the desired point on the page. Text is placed as a new overlay. This is useful for dates, initials, reference codes, short answers, captions and visual corrections. Keep wording concise so it fits cleanly within the available page area.
Select Highlight, press at one corner of the area and drag to the opposite corner. The tool records a translucent rectangle, allowing the original content to remain visible underneath. Highlights work well for key contract clauses, invoice totals, deadlines, instructions and study notes.
Select Rectangle, set the colour and line width, then drag over the target region. Use rectangles for quality-control reviews, form guidance, document comparisons or drawing attention to missing information. The rectangle is an outline rather than an opaque block.
Select Draw and drag across the page. The editor stores the path as a set of points and redraws it in the chosen colour and thickness. Freehand mode is suitable for arrows, circles, strike-through marks, underlines and informal notes. A stylus usually gives the most natural result on a tablet.
Select Image, choose a PNG or JPEG file, then click the PDF page where the image should appear. The tool places a proportionally scaled copy. Common examples include a company logo, approval stamp, small photograph or scanned signature. Only insert images that you have the right and authority to use.
The Undo button removes the last overlay added to the current page. Clear Page removes every overlay added to that page during the current editing session. Neither control deletes the original content already present in the source PDF.
Quick browser editing can simplify many personal, academic, business and administrative document tasks.
The export process preserves each selected source page and writes your new overlay edits into a fresh PDF container.
When you click the download button, the tool opens the source document in browser memory, copies the pages in your selected order and applies each page's chosen rotation. It then draws the saved text, highlights, rectangles, freehand paths and images using PDF coordinates rather than taking a screenshot of the entire page.
This approach is designed to preserve the original PDF page content while adding the new edits. Text already present in the document remains part of the original page. Newly added text becomes separate PDF drawing content. Inserted PNG or JPEG files are embedded into the output document.
The edited PDF can be larger or smaller than the source depending on inserted images, removed pages, source compression and the way the browser library rebuilds the document. A high-resolution signature or photograph may increase file size. Removing pages may reduce it. File size alone is not a reliable measure of visual quality, so inspect the downloaded PDF instead of judging only by megabytes.
Always keep the unedited source document, especially for contracts, statements, invoices, legal records, applications and archival files. The edited PDF should be treated as a derived copy. A clear filename such as report-reviewed.pdf or application-annotated.pdf helps distinguish it from the original.
Most problems are caused by password protection, very large documents, damaged files or browser memory limits.
Confirm that the selected file is a valid PDF. Password-protected, security-restricted, damaged or incomplete documents may not open in a browser library.
Large drawings, scanned books and image-heavy reports require more processing. Close other tabs, work on a desktop device or split the document into smaller parts.
Zoom and place the text carefully. If a page has been rotated, wait for the preview to refresh before clicking the location.
Use a reasonably sized PNG or JPEG. Extremely large images consume browser memory and can increase the exported PDF size significantly.
Scanned pages are pictures. This editor can draw over them, but extracting editable words requires optical character recognition in a separate OCR workflow.
Open every page and compare it with the preview. Complex transparency, unusual fonts or malformed source structures may behave differently after rebuilding.
The original PDF is not changed. Reload the source file and repeat the page arrangement, or use the original document to start a fresh editing session.
The interface is responsive, but precise drawing and page arrangement are easier on a larger screen. Use landscape orientation or a desktop for detailed work.
Documents may contain personal, financial, academic or commercial information, so a local editing workflow can reduce unnecessary transfer.
The page uses browser file APIs and JavaScript PDF libraries to read the selected document, show the preview, store temporary editing instructions and create the downloadable copy. The working data remains in browser memory for the current session.
A successful download does not replace careful document review, permission checks or professional requirements.
Open the exported PDF in a trusted viewer and check the first page, last page and every edited page. Confirm that no essential page was removed, the order is correct, rotated pages are readable and added content is positioned accurately.
Only insert a signature, seal, approval stamp or logo when you have authority to use it. Different organisations, jurisdictions and transaction types may have specific requirements for electronic signatures, identity verification or audit trails. A pasted signature image is not automatically equivalent to every form of digital signature.
Annotations should not be used to misrepresent records, hide required disclosures or alter documents deceptively. Keep an original version and make it clear when a file has been annotated, corrected or prepared for review.
If you control the original Word document, spreadsheet, presentation, design file or publishing project, edit that source and export a new PDF. Source editing provides better control over flowing paragraphs, fonts, tables, page breaks, accessibility tags and document structure.
