A quick primer on Adobe's Photoshop format, the PDF it becomes, and what actually happens during the conversion here.
PSD (Photoshop Document) is Adobe Photoshop's native layered file format, storing not just pixels but layers, masks, channels, text and effects. Because PSD is a rich working format, sharing it is awkward — recipients need Photoshop to open it. Converting to PDF produces a universally-readable, print-ready document anyone can view. This tool parses the PSD binary directly in your browser using a built-in pure-JavaScript reader: it validates the 8BPS signature, decodes the merged composite image (RAW or PackBits RLE compression), handles RGB, Greyscale and CMYK color modes, counts the layers, and renders the result to a canvas. That flattened composite is then placed into a genuine PDF with jsPDF at your chosen page size, fit and quality. Because the composite is flattened, individual layers, blend modes, smart objects and adjustment layers are rendered as static output rather than preserved as editable layers, and ZIP-compressed PSDs aren't supported in browser mode — re-save with the default RLE compression if a file fails.

Wherever Photoshop work needs to be shared, proofed or printed, a flattened PDF is the universal handoff format.
Designers flatten PSD mockups into clean, view-only PDFs for client proofs and sign-off.
Print shops accept flattened PDFs from PSD designs with exact pixel dimensions for accurate output.
Marketers combine PSD ad concepts into PDF decks to circulate for team approval.
Agencies bundle PSD work samples into polished portfolio PDFs for new-business pitches.
Brand teams turn PSD logo lockups and boards into PDFs for guideline packs and handoffs.
Architects convert PSD renderings into PDF sheets for client and planning submissions.
Sellers flatten PSD product art into PDFs to send to manufacturers and print-on-demand partners.
Photographers deliver flattened retouched PSD edits as PDFs clients can open and print.
Publishers combine PSD page designs into single PDF proofs for editorial review.
Design students submit PSD coursework as PDFs to LMS platforms that accept documents.
Sellers convert PSD product graphics into PDF spec sheets and lookbooks for buyers.
Teams store flattened PDF snapshots of PSD designs as universally-readable archive copies.

Fit to PSD Size (the default) makes each page exactly the pixel dimensions of its PSD — pixel-perfect, no borders. A4, Letter, A3 and A5 place the artwork onto a standard paper size for printing and filing.
Auto (per file) picks the best orientation for each PSD based on its shape — wide files get landscape, tall ones portrait. Portrait and Landscape force every page one way. Ignored when Page Size is Fit to PSD.
Fit keeps the whole image visible and preserves aspect ratio. Fill crops to fill the content area. Stretch distorts to fill the page. Original Size uses the natural size (capped to the page). Most visible on standard paper sizes.
From None (0mm) for edge-to-edge output — ideal with Fit to PSD — up to Extra (25mm) for a generous border on printed pages.
Merge into One PDF combines every PSD into a single multi-page document. Separate PDF per File creates one PDF per PSD, delivered together in a ZIP. Use merge for decks, separate for individual deliverables.
The flattened composite is encoded as a JPEG inside the PDF. Standard (75%) is smallest, High (90%) is the balanced default, and Maximum (100%) gives the sharpest output at the largest size.
Sets the output name. In merge mode you get filename.pdf; in separate mode you get filename_pdfs.zip (each PDF inside is named after its source PSD). Pick something descriptive so it's easy to find later.
Drag any card to a new position, or use the ◀ ▶ arrows for single-step moves — the order shown is the page order in your PDF. The ✕ button removes a file; Add More appends new ones. Each card shows layer count, color mode and a parse status badge.
A few small choices make your converted PDF cleaner, sharper and more reliable.
For design proofs and print art, Fit to PSD with 0 margin gives edge-to-edge output at the exact canvas size.
This parser reads RAW and PackBits RLE. ZIP-compressed PSDs fail — re-save with Photoshop's default compression.
Only visible composite content is rendered. Hide layers you don't want and make sure your final look is the composite.
Click a thumbnail to check the flattened output at full size — complex effects can render differently than in Photoshop.
If the PDF is going to a printer, choose Maximum render quality so the embedded image stays crisp.
Drag cards or use the arrows to lock in the exact page order — it's the order they'll appear in the merged PDF.
Need one PDF per design? Switch to Separate mode and get a ZIP with each PSD as its own named PDF.
The card shows each file's layer count — a sanity check that the right, full document was read before you convert.
CMYK PSDs are converted to RGB for screen and PDF. Expect close, not exact, color versus a calibrated print proof.
Large, high-resolution PSDs use a lot of memory. A desktop browser handles them far better than a phone.
A descriptive filename (like "brand-proof-v2") makes the download easy to find and forward to clients later.
The PDF is flattened and one-way. Hang on to your editable PSD so you can re-export anytime with different settings.
Most online PSD-to-PDF converters upload your design files to a server. This one runs entirely in your browser — your PSDs never leave your device.
Every step — parsing the PSD binary, flattening it to a canvas, building the PDF, bundling the ZIP, saving the file — runs in your browser's own JavaScript engine. No PSD content and no PDF output is ever transmitted over the network.
